  • Visitor Information

    General Guidelines

    • In order to maintain our patients’ security, safety and comfort, we ask all visitors to:
    • Obtain a visitor’s pass at the Information Desk, with a limit of two visitors at any one time. Visitor passes are valid only for the date and area displayed and must be worn at all times while inside the facility. Please return your visitor’s pass to the Information Desk when leaving the facility.
    • Check with the patient’s nurse for special restrictions.
    • Keep noise to a minimum, to avoid disrupting other patients.
    • Limit visiting to the patient’s room.
    • Refrain from smoking anywhere in the facility. It is a violation of the Smoke-free Illinois Act.

    Visiting Hours

General visiting hours for Kindred Chicago Lakeshore are daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Flexibility in hours may be warranted in some cases, but must be discussed with the nursing supervisor or an administrative representative. Please limit the number of visitors to no more than two at a time in the patient room. All other visitors must wait in the main lobby until other visitors leave. Visitors may be asked to wait outside the patient’s room while care is being provided.

    High Acuity Unit

Visitors to the High Acuity Unit are asked to limit visits to 15 minutes, in order to allow adequate rest for the patient.

    Visiting with Children

Children under the age of two (2) are not permitted on the units, however they are welcome to wait in common or family waiting areas. Children must be supervised at all times in order to ensure their safety and the safety of our patients.

    Infection Control

We ask that all visitors observe general hygiene practices when entering and leaving patient rooms. This includes disinfecting hands using the sanitizer dispensers conveniently placed around the facility.

For visitors of patients who are under special infection-control precautions or isolation, please read the isolation signs, check with the patient’s nurse, and make sure you understand and cooperate with the required precautions.

Please refrain from visiting if you have a cough, runny nose and/or congestion, sore throat, body aches, unusual weakness or tiredness, fever, rash, open sores, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or exposure to any communicable diseases such as chicken pox, measles or mumps.

    Cafeteria

The cafeteria is located on the first floor and is available to all visitors.

    Breakfast is served Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
Lunch is served daily from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Vending machines and complimentary beverages are available throughout the day in the cafeteria.

    Parking

Free parking is available in the lot adjacent (north) to the facility. Handicapped parking spaces are available. The parking lot is secured, so please ask for a token at the reception desk in the main lobby.

    Security

Security and safety of our patients, families and staff are a key element at this facility. Because of that, all doors are locked after 8 p.m. Please use the doorbell located at the north entrance for after-hours entry. The security staff will provide escorts to and from cars upon request.

    Family Concerns

Family members may request to meet with clinical staff to discuss their loved one’s current condition and progress and to answer questions. Patient/family conferences may be scheduled by calling case management at (773) 381-8175.

    Post-Facility Care

Once a physician determines that your loved one no longer requires the specialized services of our facility, they will work with case management and nursing staff to create a plan for discharge. Case management staff will assist in coordinating any medical service needs or transfer upon discharge.
